Due to its geographic location, Ukrainian culture has strongly been molded by both Europe and Asia. The vast majority of Ukrainians are of Slavic descent, carrying along with them a strong tie to Orthodox Christianity. Approximately 40% of Ukrainians identify as non-religious or Atheist. Despite this, many Ukrainians tend to be incredibly superstitious.
Ukrainians are also typically considered to be extremely polite. It is customary that all guests be welcomed with a firm handshake and greeting. Guests are served food and beverages, before the host. In formal situations, Ukrainians will refer to people by their full given-name (First Middle Last).
Ukrainian artwork has been heavily influenced by the nation's relationship with Russia. Many aspects of both cultures have roots in both Slavic and Russian heritages. The video below shows live artwork that depicts the story of the German invasion and occupation of Ukraine during World War II.
